Background
Susannah (Suz) Temko is an award-winning director and screenwriter. Born in Philadelphia, raised in Surrey, and based in London. She loves using cathartic black comedy and absurdism to dive into complex subject matters and themes. She is interested in exploring topics such as control, accessibility, polarisation, sex and gender, generational trauma and relationships, and understanding across cultures and contexts.
Her upcoming short film ‘Dead Cat’ won Best Short Script at the Amsterdam New Cinema Film Festival, was Official Selection at the Chicago Script Awards, and Semi-Finalist for Best Screenplay at the Kerry International Film Festival.
Her first short film ‘Longterm Absence’ (2024) was Official Selection at the Sea Change Festival and First Time Filmmaker Sessions. As part of the Peacock Jams team, the comedy short ‘For the Love of Jacques’ (2025) won ‘Best Use of Line’ at the 48 Hour Film Competition.
She is an alumni of the National Film and Television School, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Durham University.
